Hello,
Not a total nooby here, but I normally use the
CCI DXP Diazo-Photopolymer Dual Cure Direct Emulsion
from ryonet, mix it up and its ready to use.
I had no problems with it.

Currently, I am trying Saatichem textile PV emulsion, because I had ran out of the dual cure emulsion.
Anyhow, the textile PV does not require mixing, its ready to go.
For my exposure unit, I have 4 bulb - Day light UV 20W I expose screens in a bout 13 mins normally.
However I am using the new textile pv and nothing exposes!
I even left it on a bit longer, but nothing exposed.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I just ordered the dual cure emulsion, I don't have time to experiment right now, I have to get my order out.
any ideas?
new or better exposure unit?
I also tried the textile pv on my 500watt halogen work light but the same results...nothing exposed...
yes, I am going to get a new exposure unit, but I just want to determine if I have bad emulsion. I just bought and opened for the first time.
thx

I use the saati textil pc blue direct emulsion and have a burn time of 2 minutes....excellent results...I was using cci dual cure dxp and had a burn time of 11 - 13 1/2 minutes with mixed results....I have a home built exposure unit with 6 20 watt black lights.....

you say nothing exposes? do you mean you cannot see the image in the emulsion after burning and before washing out? I dont see any image after I burn the screen until I take it to the washout sink and spray it with water..thats when I see the image appear.

try exposing for 2 - 4 minutes and see what kind of results you have.

Hello guys,
So I didn't try any further w/ the tetile PV. The CCI DXP Diazo-Photopolymer Dual Cure Direct Emulsion shipped to my place. I mixed it, let it sit for 2 hours, coated the screens, dried.
I did my same process of exposing the screens for 13 mins.
Flawless. Burned onto the screen w/ no issues.
I just wont mess w/ the textile pv emulsion brand. I guess I wasted $25 bucks on the quart.
Im not bashing, just had no results w/ it.
thanks!

I have tried many emulsions..and i personally think TextilPV is the best. Exposure times are WAY faster than any thing i have ever used before. The detail I get from my screens are amazing. I use a home built 400w MH exposure unit and my burn time is 1min. 35sec. I know for a fact that with a 1000w MH I will get 25sec. burn times...that will be my next upgrade. Also the shelf life on Textil PV is great..no need to keep in the fridge..and no need to mix and let sit for 2 hours.

ok guys, update.
I realized that I can't see the "imprint" exposed area with this type of emulsion. Usually w/ the dual cure emulsion, I can see a imprint of the design.
Once I sprayed some water on the screen, I can see the design become visible. Thanks for all the help.
I did invest in a exposure calculator and also moved up to a real exposure unit. The Aluminum UV Screen Exposure Unit 20"x24" Screen Exposure Unit
