You will need two different vinyls, the black and the top color. You could try to contour cut the shadow color, so it sits next to the main color, but if it was me, I would just double layer the vinyl.

With the double layer, of course you will have a heavier feel, but it will be my best choice.

If you go on YouTube you will see how to apply vinyl on top of vinyl. It holds okay if done correct and washed the right way.

I hope I'm in the right area, if not please forgive me.

I need assistance on doing shaded lettering on shirts. One that comes to mind is the Cincinnati Reds front logo....

I appreciate any help or advice. Are the shaded areas cut and placed seperately??

I double layer all the time. I use Thermoflex Plus. The hand of two layers is not heavy. It is softer than other brands. If you contour cut the shade make sure there is enough overlap to compensate for shrinkage. That way there is no gap when the shirt shrinks after wash.
