Hi, I Would love hear some feedback & opinion from Roland BN-20 owners & from those that decide not to purchase this particular machine.

I hear the machine is slow, but that's about the only negative feedback I hear. I have done extensive YouTube review, but now that I'm ready to make the purchase. I want to make sure I not making a $8.5K mistake.

I have no illusions it's large-format capability. I would be using it to print full color vinyl for T-Shirts & some decals for vehicles here & there. I was advice by one of the vendor that I'm thinking of purchasing from. That for vehicle graphics the decals must be laminated, because no-matter what Roland said's about it without lamination the color will scratch.

I outsource all my large format anyway, but I'm looking to purchase the BN-20 for extra income generator. I did look at the VersaCAMM® VS-300i, which is faster & bigger but for 15K I would buy an EPSON 64" printer since I own a SUMMA D-120 so the print & cut functionality is not the determining factor.

I like to said thank you in advance, for taking out the time to help me.

I was close to getting one a few years ago and went a different route.

Every bit of research I did pointed to getting the Versacamm instead.

Better machine, faster, cheaper ink, cheaper materials and more too choose from.

I would have recommended you go larger... You can always put small rolls on it to print but not larger ones. We have been using Roland printers for about 15 years, and very happy with them. I would go with any printer larger than the BN20 ...The Epson's are nice, if you have the budget for that I would definitely do that over the BN20.

Since you have a Summa to do all your cutting, what about a Roland RF640?
Its a 64" printer and is $15k
If you do signage you will be glad you have the larger size. The speed of the BN20 is ridiculously slooooooow. The resale value of it (BN20) is also very low compared to the larger printers.

I only had enough money in my budget for the BN-20. I only do this part time so I didn't need anything to run to fast. It has been a great machine for us. It has helped us get a lot of baseball/softball teams. We're killing it just for the numbers alone. Yes, if you have a bigger budget go with the larger machines but if not this machine is well worth the money. It pretty much paid for itself in less then a year and I only do it part time.

Thank you taking the time to respond, the Versacamm looks like a better option than the BN-20, but $15k it's just to much for a 30" printer. for 14K I would buy an EPSON 64" . I'm looking to used it for t-shirt vinyl & some vehicle decals, my main concerns it's that I hear the machine is slow. I out source all my large format & I don't really have any interest in doing large format in house.
