If you want to try dye sublimation printing, you'll need to work with white, 100% polyester t-shirts, so you are kind of limited. The quality is excellent - very vibrant and long-lasting. These are pressed at 400 degrees F for about 45 seconds.

However, the 3300 is in the process of being replaced with a newer printer - the Ricoh SG 3110 DN. Since it's not on the market yet, I can't quite vouch for how well it works, but you're probably looking at a very similar printer and result.

Thanks for the clarification David. That certainly makes sense. I guess I'm just the type looking for the latest and greatest. I was told that the new head cleaning system in the 3110 will easily make up for the increase in ink cost by a Sawgrass Rep by not wasting as much ink in the head cleaning process.

Thanks in advance for the info.

That would make sense if you EVER had to clean the heads. The 3300N has been as bullet-proof a machine for dye sub as we ever used (it replaced an Epson 4800 which gave us all kinds of grief and finally needed 2 replacement heads at $500 each!) The Ricoh just runs and runs. Never a problem.

Not sure about saving enough ink!
I am reviewing my yield tests
I have a call into one of your sales rep on this printer. How's it coming along with the yield tests. This is my first dye sub machine that I'm thinking about purchasing. I have an Epson 1100, but I was using that for heat transfers only.

I'm thinking about purchasing the Starter or Pro SG 3110 DN system.

Yield is the same on my but k cart is much larger at
42ml. I estimate the cost for my full coverage
Letter size print to be at $.70 in ink.

And what would the same print be with the 3300 David?
(sorry if this is a well know price, I don't know enough about the whole Dye Sub thing to know what I don't know yet)
