Ok everyone ... What is your policy on returning or refunding merchandise? Especially for online stores?

And how do we handle a situation where if someone sends back a clearly worn or damaged item (that we know was not that way when it was sent)?

I'm trying to write up our return/refund policy for our website, right now we will be just selling decorated t-shirts, hoodies & some drawstring bags.
Selling only our graphic designs on items for right now, except for locally. We are only making exceptions for people or businesses we know or associated with locally for now as we really are just starting.

Thanks for all your help, advice and wisdom as we make this journey into the small business world! ;)

Thank you, I'll check it out!
it is free and they have other free templates that might interest you as well

i have to give shopify kudos for offering these,
very kind and makes me definitely contemplate using them down the road
(when i hit it so big i buy seacookie's castle,
and have no time for monkeying with woo because the castle needs attending)

I've never had a customer ask for a refund or a discount without a good reason. Customer satisfaction must be taken into consideration, whether or not you did anything wrong. If a customer is unsatisfied it won't do either of you any good no matter who caused the problem.

An example from my experience is a company that I used to buy my vinyl from - Sign Warehouse (I don't mind posting their name since I've already called them and offered a reasonable solution that would have been acceptable to both of us and they flat out refused.) Needless to say I don't plan to buy from them or recommend them to anyone in the future so I hope they're happy with their thirty bucks. (As you may have guessed I'm still a bit upset about it...)
