just bought an redsail plotter cutter...ive yet to figure this thing out I can say I have it cutting letters and numbers only....I don't have adobe nor corel only inscape and my question is do I need those high cost programs to cut shapes and images or is inkscape compatible, im kinda lost with this plotter and software....and trying to stay positive....but it seems its hopeless

You don't need Corel or Illustrator. Those are graphics design packages similar to InkScape except more powerful. I would recommend sign cutting software however. Go over to SignCutPro.com and request a 1 week free license and install it and connect your cutter. You can import any vector artwork into SignCut and send it to the cutter for cutting.
