do you need to use the special machines when you re mesh a screen ( i.e take it to a specialist) or can you do it at home with just the glue and some new mesh?
The big answer is no.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The device you use to stretch frames is pricey unless you use a whole lota screens. And used ones are very hard to find. You would have to be blowing through screens to justify the cost.
Want to tension your own screens? Buy neuman roller frames.I ran my shop with 30 of them for 8 years and I still have them.I never store images.
When I ran a very large company that was the only time I could justify the cost, time materials ie mesh and frames.I then switched the company over to neumans/Much better print quality and just a little learning curve.
I still use them and some wood but I have the wood ones streched.I don't do it here. It's not worth it.

Hey Das, I was looking at another thread on this very thing and someone brought up a good idea.Buy 1 retenionable frame place it over a wood frame, glue and cut. However you still need all the equipment ie tension meter, torque wrench mesh. But still I don't think it's impossible.Just not as cost effective as buying them for 14 or 15 bucks.Hope this helps.
