I've been making T-shirts for my band for the past 5 years.
We've used Gildan shirts, Fruit of the Loom, Anvil, Bella, Sun Apparel and American Apparel.

Are there any non-sweatshop shirts companies.
I was told Sun Apparel are made in a Mexican factory with good Union, but their colors aren't quite as nice as AA shirts.

Also I'm looking to make between 100-200 shirts with a single color print
And looking for quotes.
I might try 100 AA shirts
and 100 of some cheap brand and experiment with selling them for two different prices to see if our audience cares.
So far the best price I've got is $6.30 for AA shirts. and
4.50 for Gildan or Fruit of the Loom.

I'm located in the Portland, Oregon, Seattle, WA area.
And would need the shirts by Oct 22.

Sounds like you aready got some good quotes. What's stopping you from moving forward?

American Apparel claims to be sweatshop free (sometimes it seems to be used as just a marketing keyword). There are also other brands with the same claim (continental clothing, alstyle, article1, jerico, pacific sports, etc)

I've never heard of those other brands.

Are they American companies?
Are the good shirts?
I do like the feel and look of AA shirts.

-thanks for the feedback

Do some research on them by searching the forums for their names using the search box at the top of the page. There's lots of good info out there.
