Hello, I'm new to screen printing, and have done a bit of research. Now I have a few questions about the process (and reducing the costs...) I want to print t-shirts and bags (mainly for myself and my friends, perhaps some to sell at a local shop), but my designs are very intricate, so:

What is the general range in price for mesh?

What would be the best mesh count to use? I've heard that many use 110, but also I've heard 156 is better for white. What count would be best for detailed designs? What would be best for metallics?

What is a reasonable price for screens and emulsion sheets? (I don't want to mess with liquid emulsion).

Could I keep my designs after the emulsion is exposed by storing it? Would I need to preserve the emulsion somehow?

...or should I just give up and buy a Yudu?

That's it for now. Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer one or more of my questions!

As for mesh, the higher the thread count, the finer detail it will print. 156 or 230 for most applications. Different metallics require different mesh counts. Contact the ink mfg. or supplier for recommendations.
What size screens do you need. Wood is cheapest. Aluminum static (the mesh is glued on). Retensionable screens are more expensive, but give you the ability to retension to maintain proper screen tension.
Exposed screens can be kept indefinitely. If all you want is a toy for hobby work, get a yudu. If you are serious about screen printing, get quality equipment. God Bless.
