Hey guys looking to start my website soon but I still can't decide on a method.

Would I be right in saying that doing heat transfers from A4 Transfer paper would restrict me to Square designs. A lot of my designs have the grey and white chequered pattern on photoshop where I would not want any colour transferring but all the videos I watch on Youtube seem to be block A4 rectangle images.

We have created a video which explains heat transfer paper and its limitations here: yolö love transfer - An Introduction to Printable Heat Transfer Paper - YouTube - we hope this will be helpful.

You can print and then cut out your design which means you are not restricted to a square or rectangular image. You can cut out the image by hand with a craft knife or scissors but if your design is complex then you may require a contour cutter. Standard transfers have a film background which is clear for transfers for light fabrics and white (opaque) on transfers for dark fabrics. You essentially are printing on this film. With the transfers for darks, it is important that you cut out your design. Otherwise, you will have an image printed on a white rectangle as you described.

So with laser printing is it easier to get what I want without having to concern myself with cutters?
We stock self-weeding laser heat transfer papers from Neenah; Image Clip Laser Light, Image Clip Laser Dark and Image Clip Koncert T's. Although these papers do not require cutting, they do have limitations as they are only really suitable for transferring solid, intense colours. They tend not to work as well with images containing gradients or pastel colours such as photographic type images.

Thank you you have been most helpful. I think Laser printing will suit my needs best when I get started up.
