Build the website and show it to them :)

It's important to note that just because you publish a website, doesn't mean that anyone will ever see it.

The only way people see your website is if you tell them about it. This is especially true with a brand new website.

It's not like if you publish your website that 1000 people will come flooding to the site automatically. Where would those people come from?d

You actually have to work pretty hard to get people to see your website.

I think you'd be safe in building the website, not telling anyone about it, and then showing the link to your merchant account provider.

If you're *really* worried, you could put a notice on the website or even password protect it, but I don't think that's necessary.

You should definitely publish the site for the purpose of getting the merchant account. If you are not yet actively driving targeted traffic to your website, then those site visits are not real customers. Meaning, they are not going to your site with the intention of buying your product. There is nothing wrong with publishing your site while you are still in the process of working on it.

I'm literally in the same boat.. I was using Paypal but then decided to go with bank.. my bank needs to see the website so I had to "update" it. I wasn't updating it because I'm not ready to launch. So I was up till 1 am last night updating it. I spent 8 hours straight and it's "ok"... definatly not goign to be the finshed product but I completely get what your saying. Unfortunately, you have to do what you have to do. My bank said that once I get the approval I can de activate the site so I'm hoping I only have to have it up a couple days at most. I'm expecting to Launch in the next couple weeks.

Your bank is going to require security issues are addressed. Ssl and also that your data is safe when not in use. That's why third party solutions like PayPal are so popular. They handle the data safe issues and other security issues. So if your coding isn't up to par make sure you know what your bank requires before they deny you.
