I am having trouble cutting black Stahls Econoprint with my GCC Puma III. The sizing media does not seem to be able to identify the vinyl. It tries, but then stops and does not correctly read. When I did get it to size the media, the cuts typically stop partially through. Is there something reflective in the black backing that confuses the reader? I do not have this problem with siser easyweed nor eco film from imprintables. I also had no problems cutting Red Econoprint. I have actually tried moving my light source around thinking it may be fooling the sensor. No luck...

Try cutting a sheet to the dimension you need length wise with the vinyl giving you trouble and try the "Single" setting. If that works then you need to make sure to leave some slack so the rear sensor isn't being tripped as the roll feeds.

Thanks Resu,
Yes, I did try cutting from both the roll and sheets of various sizes with no luck last night. I also moved my light source thinking that it may be causing problems with the sensor. I was finally able to get a test cut on the black Stahls film before leaving for work today but am not overly optimistic.

My strip is all grooved up so I will definitely be changing that tonight. What is really strange is that I am only having trouble with the Black EconoFilm. The red seems to cut fine. Something about the black seems to be confusing my sensors.

One other thing, I was messing around with the overcut setting on the console because I was getting hanging pieces on small designs. I must have changed something else because now my cutter slowly pulls a bunch of material through, then pushes about half of it back, then starts the cut. Like it is cutting back to front instead of front to back. I must have accidentally changed a setting.
