I don't want our graphics to peel off or come apart in the wash but i do want them to pop and stand out. so which is better.

Depends on how much effort you want to put into the printing process. Screen printing is time consuming and labor intensive, but gives nice results. And there are several kinds of finishes you can get this way. Heat transfers can be used on white material or if you buy the special papers and have a cutter you can buy the transfers for dark fabric. On whites you can get full color prints effortlessly.
I have sold screen printing and plastisol heat transfers for many years....And all I can say is "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".....Some clients think screen printing is better and some clients think plastisol heat transfers are better....The bottom line is you will never get 100% of folks you ask to agree....
we were going to send them out to get pressed so I don't think time would be a factor except in relation to labor cost.
