I screen print on a lot of athletic goods which include a lot of polys and nylons. I alway make sure I have the correct ink for the correct materials. I have been having coaches tell me that their numbers are coming off of their uniforms. The team names are fine its just the numbers. We usually put more ink on the numbers to get good coverage. We use a converyer dryer and a laser thermometer. We make sure the ink on top gets to about 360 to make sure it is good and cured all the way through. We then give it a stretch test. We have been running the garments through several times almost to the point of scorching. What is the problem and what can I do?

Is the problem on both your polyester and nylon goods or just polyester? Is the material any different than where your printing the names? Are you using a white uderbase print? What mesh screens are you using for the numbers and are you using different mesh screens for your names?

Just trying to figure out some of the details so that we can get a clearer idea of what could be happening and hopefully help you resolve this issue.

We are using 110 on our names and our inline number press which I think is 110 as well for our numbers. I had one person mention this... It is just the top layer of our numbers coming off. We have to put 2 layers of under base on for our bottom number and have a lot of flashing until we put the top number on. This is for 2 color numbers. He said the bottom number could be getting cured from all the flashing and the top number want adhere if the bottom number is already cured. Does that make since?

To me that sounds like what's happening. Make sure that you're just flashing long enough to where the ink's not wet, anymore than that could be too long. I would adjust your flash times and run a sample for some wash test and see how it holds up. Hope this works for you! Keep me posted I would be curious to know if this is a fix for you.

bottom layer cured----I made that mistake once-learned the hard way.

We do use a lot of heat applied numbers-either plastisol or cut numbers. It cost more-but no problems. And-we always use vinyl on the polyester. We once had an issue with a dazzle jersey.

Hang in there.

It sounds like you need to you use a nylon bonding agent just as "cmon is sports" indicated above. Due to the properties of nylon it is sometimes required to have the bonding agent to securely bond the ink to the actual nylon fibers on a molecular level. A bonding agent is required when printing on nylon bags as well, if you every print any or decide to start printing them. Good luck.
