Hi all,

I'm having major difficulties with glueing the shirts on the pallets while printing waterbased discharge. The glue used is also waterbased. The shirts are of a very thin bamboo/cotton mix. While I print (M&R Diamondback), the area on the pallets where the ink hits the fabric, gets moisty and so does the glue (spray or rollerbased - doesn't matter). The glue then will stick to the shirt, and the next print will also be ruined because it doesn't hold the shirt down anymore. This only happens with fairly big prints. Has anyone ever had this sort of problem, or even better, has a solution to this kind of mayhem?
Many many thanks for all your help,

Annelot (Amsterdam)

There's spray adhesive that's not waterbased and would be a better choice with those big discharge prints. Good luck !
Hmm, the other thing that strikes me is to try to do a lighter pass and flash, then print again.

I actually just saw this happen for the first time last week. We were conducting some tests with a new discharge ink from Matsui and the adhesive would lift off the pallet wherever the ink was layed down. It happened with spray adhesive and water based adhesives.

I've never seen this happen with other discharge inks before...only the new bright discharge white base from Matsui. This can make it very hard to print since the print area comes off clean with no adhesive which causes the print area on the garment to shift and blur. It seemed like it was only happening when we flashed.

We were experimenting with using the Bright White Discharge as an underbase for other water based inks. I'm not sure what will help solve this problem, but I will be working on a solution this week. I'll post it here if I come up with anything.

Is the ink you used that didn't give any problems also matsui and also discharge?
In the meanwhile, my inksupplier gave some kind of solution he experienced with a different client. Use double-sided tape on the pallets, and spray glue in between each new put on shirt.
Haven't tried it yet but will come back to it.
