Problem with polyamide adhesive tape and sublimation

1956 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Signature Series
Hello everyone.
I´ve been doing some sublimation tests and so far the colors and everything came amazing.
Unfortunately i´m getting this problem and i don´t know how to solve this.

When using polyamide tape to place the design correctly and avoid misadjustments the "glue" stays in the garment, creating this bad look.

As you can see in the attachment, glue stays in the attachment, and after wearing the garment for two days it´s quite noticiable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot in advance

Lightly mist a spray adhesive on the paper and then sublimate the shirt. I use RyoMist Spray Adhesive. This keeps the image from ghosting due to shifting.

Too much adhesive and the print will look grainy and have slightly lighter spots. Too little and it won't stick. Spray the air like a cologne cloud and pull the paper through it. See how that works for you....
The typical method for keeping transfers in place is a spray adhesive. Try that instead.

DyeTrans® ProSpray™ Aerosol Adhesive Spray
There is also a paper that has adhesive all ready that activates when heated. We have not tested it yet.
(Pretty much a dyesub paper like Jet pro soft stretch....it is made by the same people if i remember right)
thanks both of you for your replies.

I use a thinner polyamide tape and it didn´t leave any marks, maybe it´s this one have too much adhesive or something?
Other problem is i´m from Spain and i don´t find those brands here. Is that the same as "spray for screenprinting"? . So basically you spray the garment and then put the paper over and right into the heatpress or i need to wait?

thanks again

Spray the paper...not the shirt. Spray it and move the paper "thru the mist".
Thanks a lot i will try that method.

^^^Exactly^^^

Yes, it is.
Change your tape.
We use the greenn tape from BMS, tried the brown, it curled too much, tried the blue, it left a hint of blue on a stitch seam..
If you go the spray tack just go to the hobby section of Walmart and get 3M or any other brand of repositioning adhesive spray. It is about 1/4 cost of the DyeTrans spray which sprays horribly and massively overpriced.
