Hi

Wondering if someone can help with a problem i am having, basically i cant seem to get rid of the square platen mark that the heat press is leaving on my tees. I have searched many forums for an answer but nothing that has helped.

I am doing sublimation printing onto American Apparel sublimation T garments, using settings 200 degrees for 60 seconds - the problem is not with the transfer paper as the marks left are from the actual heat press platen (so it leaves the sqaure outline of my heatpress which is 38cm x 38cm) tried reduced pressure, washing the tee after printing and tried ironing out the 'crease' square but neither get rid of the square outline.

i Have been told to reduce temp and increase the time - but not sure what to? these are very expensive garments so each trial is proving very costly. Is anyone using these garments and not experiencing the heatpress marks? If so would be great to know the settings you are using?

Any help much appericated

I think he means 200 celsius, which if true, would be right around 390* F. If that's the case, then maybe bring the temp down to 185. Then maybe add 15-20 seconds to the press time.

But before anything, what type of heat press are you using?

Are you following the manufacturers' specs for the transfers?

Other than the outline, are the transfers okay?

What's your pressure setting?

Is your top platen heating properly, have you checked the actual temp?

hi

yes its 200 celsius which is approx 390 F, i will attempt at 185 and increase the time by 15-20 seconds hopefully this may help.

I dont think i have any problems with the actual heatpress as it presses fine on my cotton tees and my 50/50 tess also the transfers are coming out great, it really is just the problem with this square mark from the platen appearing on the 100% polyester tees, i presume it is because these are a lot thinner?? I have adjusted the pressure on a few attempts - from a medium press to pretty much the lightest pressure it will do.

i havent tried a teflon pillow but i do insert a teflon sheet inside the tee shirts to stop the sublimation ink going through the tee and onto both sides and i also place a teflon sheet over the transfer to protect it from the heat press
