Hi People

Having a problem printing some polo shirts.
Its a 6 color job & the pores of the fabric are showing through the colors. (look at red in attached photo)

We tried putting a heavy underbase to 'fill' the pores but the ink still goes into the pores. Tried using lower mesh counts for base (like 100) same problem.

Stencils are 195 mesh, 6 color 1 station press & flash unit.

What to do? HELP!!!

Actually to me it doesn't look that bad, as long you use 160 for the under base and 200 for the rest of the colors, remember you are printing on pique polo shirts, just make sure it's well register

Apply more coats of white, I usually do it 3-4 coatings on a print-dry-print-dry process. Is the ink waterbase?

I steer my customers to a jersey knit polo instead of the pique to avoid that problem.
If anyone has photos of pique screenprints that look good, post 'em. I know some people print them, but I never could get a good print on a pique.

I second that, jersey polos are great, the customers that we manage to persuade to have them have been very pleased, we still get the odd customer who wants pique polos though and its really a judgment call as to whether the artwork is suitable - they never look as good though.

Hmmm...jersey knit Polos. Will look into that. Great Idea! Thanks.
Not many wholesalers here wanna deal with them, they like Pique, but we will certainly seek to connect to a supplier.

For now, we softened the base-ink, layer it three times and have to cool the prints after flashing. We've made a hand held fan to use, until we can purchase or rig up some sort of electrical swing-fan device. Using a 6c/1s takes time to be flashing each color, so I gotta manually fan it out... whew!!

Prints are smooth now, but it takes 1 hour to make 20 6 color prints.
Yikes !!
