I was taught a totally diff way then I print now. I figured out if it works for you then do it.
Printing Sideways instead of long ways
I have noticed in some pictures that some screen printers are running their squeegee sideways ..... or down the width of the screen... instead of long ways... the height of the screen. So this may be a stupid question...is it ok to print that way ... .does it harm the screen?

Won't harm the screen. It would be awkward on a rotary press. The only reason I can think of for doing this is they either don't have a wide enough squeegee or if get the image to close to the edges.
It's all about personal preference in my opinion. Do what works for you.
