We recently printed full fronts on 25 tees for a client and now they want a full back printed on these tees after they have had them for a couple of weeks.

Can you successfully print on tees that have been washed several times? My concern is that any detergent and/or fabric softener will affect the pt or the ink curing properly. Any thought here?

Thanks
Larry

Be more concerned about smoothness, bobbling and sweat. Sweat discolors horribly in a drier. You'll probably also notice a bunch of stains. Humans are dirty.

I've printed on a bunch of pre-worn, washed garments. No issues. But warn the customer that residual deodorants and organic matter can react during the print process.

You should educate yourself and look into the manufacturing process of a shirt to see what the cotton goes through in production. TORMENT. Chemicals from hell, raw flames licking the cotton, rinsing cycles, to start. ;)

A lightly washed smooth garment should be fine to print on. most shirts we have are pre-washed anyway to reduce shrinkage, right? check out the print surface area and ensure it is smooth. Run a couple through the drier first to make sure there is no discoloration at cure temp. Then knock yourself out.

We would not accept them if it is a white underbase job. The fibrilation will be a real issue. If they are white/light garments with no underbase I would take them in with a side note that the client takes all responsibility due to you not knowing what they were washed in.
