I know i cannot use college sports team, etc, in my shirts, but what about the state name or the city name?

For example, can i sell shirts that say FLORIDA on them? Or does the CLC control that as well?

What about printing Tallahassee and Florida on the shirts or hats, etc?

Thanks in advance!

I think using city names are fine (although, who knows, if you lookup a trademark for the city name, you may find some active trademarks).

As always, the default answer for these questions would be to take a lawyers advice, not some strangers in a forum :)

My guess though is if you start heavily marketing the shirts as just Florida shirts, you're not going to have a problem.

If you try to start using the green and orange colors and put gators in your meta tags and on your website and market them as FLORIDA gators t-shirts, you may have problems (could be totally unfounded problems, but I think you'd be pushing more towards the trademark areas in that case).
