Hi all,

I am currently using a Epson Stylus Pro 4900, 17" wide, all black ink and clear film rolls to print our films for screen printing.

Unfortunately the 4900 seems to be malfunctioning under these circumstances. We are under warranty and on our 3rd refurbished printer that epson has sent us to replace the dead one. These replacements take days and bog down our printing output.

Does anyone know of another brand/printer that may work better for this purpose?

I use a 24" Canon ipf 605 for making large screens for the sign printing side of my business.

I get good quality film from it, but I have only used it for spot colour work, never for halftones.

Uk price is about £850 + tax.

Do your prints require the 17" wide or will a smaller 13x19 printer do? The Epson 1430 is a solid printer for that.
