Printer head stuck on the wrong side?!

Hello folks,

You were a huge help last time I got into trouble with my Kiosk 3- hope you can get me out of this latest issue...!

Earlier, I went to print a t-shirt and noticed a large bump underneath the t-shirt on the platen. So I removed the platen just before it started printing. As a result, I got a 'no media found' reading when it attempted to print.

I tried to load again and it was now like I'd thrown the system off balance. It thought it had printed when it hadn't and I got an 'Error 016' and 'Headcap fail' reading. I switched the printer off from the back as I couldn't power down from the switch in front.

Unfortunately, when I go to switch back on now, the printer head is on the opposite side to where it should be when you power up (ie. it's on the opposite side to the 'rest position') and is locked in place, so you can't just physically move it back.

If I switch on, I get a loud whirring sound, then an error reading. The whirring being like it's trying to do it's normal start-up but, as the printer head is on the other side, it can't do it.

(Hope I'm explaining this in some way that's comprehensible!)

So, the question is: Have I knackered it?! Can I get the printer head out of it's locked/ stuck position on the opposite side and back to the side where it normally starts/ rests!

Any suggestions HUGELY appreciated!

Try this
Insert a screwdriver (crosshead) into the hole in the casing above the waste bottle door ,turn either direction and see if it lifts the carriage out of the lowered lock position! ;)
Unplug it and take out the USB connection for a few mins and then plug it back in and try it
Hi, thanks very much for replying,

I got it sorted in the end- the cabling that drives the printer head had got caught at one end. With some fliddling, the issue was resolved. The issue then was that the printer head had dried somewhat- took several head cleans, etc. to get it sorted!

Oh, and re. the locked position. Once I had the head back on the right side, by switching power off at the back then back on, it locked and re-locked itself (if you see what I mean) until it was back in its cycle!

Cheers!
