Hello,

I'm new to the Tshirt transfer side of the business. What I would really like to know is how do you price custom heat transfers? I found on SEMO Imprints for 2 colors for 100 transfers it is around 1.75 per transfer. The Shirts I can get is $1.75. I gave a company a quote, but the owner says I'm way off of what he is paying. Please help!! What I'm I doing wrong

That is too much for 100 t's. Screen printers have an advantage over you. You have a middle man to print the xfers. I would have not gone over $6 with your costs and as I already posted I would be at $5.50

If a local print shop was at $6.54 why would you think the customer will pay $8+ for yours?

If I was you I would be right at $6.50. Less than the print shop but you still make $3 off a shirt.

What niche are you targeting right now?

On some orders you can not compete or if you do compete, you make very little money....So for me I tend to focus on 1 colour orders and keep my price low....For example, I will sell 120 shirts with a 1 colour imprint for C$3.69 each.....Shirts cost me C$1.83 to C$2.19....Transfers about C$0.57 (or less if I can gang)...With my set-up (production line and 2 presses) it takes me about 1 1/2 hours to press them...I promote these as low cost "promotional" shirt.... Not getting rich but it is easy and steady work...And it supplements all the other stuff I sell and makes some clients quite happy...

I generally order at least 50% extra transfers and often 100% extra (or more) extra transfers...So for a 120 piece order I may order 250 transfers....With the 15 cent transfers from F&M my cost is about C$86.00....If I use 120 on the 1st order, the extras are paid for.....I them offer to sell extra shirts in smaller batches after the 1st sale......

And early in the New Year I try to "blow" them out, C$1.00 to C2.25 each (depending on quantity)...At this time I use up all the "odds and end" shirts and transfers I have accumulated over the year....Last year I bought closeouts for as low as C$0.25 each....Early orders get better choice of colours and sizes...Later comers or those who want to pay less get the left overs...This is all stock that is paid for, so the cash flow early in the New Year comers in handy....
