So its very possible I am going to get my first shirt order ever. I just have some questions on pricing the job out.

The customer has chosen the Gildan 64000 model shirt and wants 50 total shirts. 10 L, 20 XL, and 20 XXL. All of them are black. The best price I can get them for is currently $233 for all 50 which comes out to around $4.60 per blank shirt. The design is 4 colors including the underbase and black trap, front only.

Question #1. Am I paying too much for the blanks in the first place?

#2. Assuming this is an acceptable price for the blanks, how much should I charge for the finished product?

I feel that I should add that the customer in question is my firend and the shirts are for a band. I should also add that I actually drew the artwork for this order. I want to give him a good price but at the same time I dont want to loose any money either.

Any help is appreciated.

DJ,

I'm sure you paid different prices for the Large and Extra Large than you did for the 2xl right? I would create an invoice to reflect that. Then, show the price for the Artwork, Screens, Underbase, etc.

Or, make it all simple, and add a Dollar per shirt. If it's your friend and you want to give him a good deal. Charge for the Artwork separately.

As long as you know what your margins are, you know where to give him a discount. Even if you do it at cost, you need to tally up everything so you know the actual cost including art charges. You don't work for free.

your blank cost it a bit higher than most major suppliers. use customink for some pricing info if your new to this. Id sell the job for $14.25 a piece based on the info you provided, this is a retail shop with walk in business. Obviously your costs and motivation is different. Quickest way to go broke is to print for friends and family on the cheap.
