Buddy brought over some pique polyester shirts for me to press. I haven't pressed these types of shirts before. They are Georges.

Any thing different in pressing these compared to the Vapor Apparel Phenoms ? more or less pressure ?
What about the press lines ? Pique more like to get them or less likely ? Them seem heavier than the Phenoms I am use to pressing.

Thanks
Mark

Vinyl, inkjet transfers, sublimination, plastison transfers? More specific questions will get better answers. I have done vinyl, inkjet and plastisol transfers. The lines may show but that comes with the territory. God Bless.

Pique, being more textured than micro-performance Vapor, in my opinion, is more prone to press marks. Pressure should be quite light.

Unfortunately, with most textured fabrics you are running a risk of either
1. peaks of the weave flattening if there's too much pressure, or
2. ink bleeding in troughs of the fabric if there is not enough pressure...

If possible, always get a spare shirt or at least a fabric swatch when working with garments you are not familiar with and do some testing to get the best result you can.

The fact its polyester/synthetic doesn't mean it's suitable for sublimation. I have a client bring me in 2 rolls of poly/Lycra that they bought from a hobby/craft store. When we did a test, the immediate result looked great. Two days later we discovered a bleed around the print - and it kept on spreading for days to come... I don't usually confirm I'll take on the job on somebody-else’s fabric till I test it thoroughly.

To avoid press lines I'd suggest raising printable area of the garment and having the transfer paper a bit bigger then the raised area.

THANKS
I printed and pressed last nite.
Colors popped real nice off these shirts. Better than the VA phenoms. I was surprised.
There is slight press line but some did disappear but some are still there but are faint. (I gotta practice with the foam or rob a bank and get a large press and wide format printer).

No bleed around the graphic and hopefully not.

I did have one shirt that after printing some brown stains appeared on it. I have had this happen with other poly shirts I have done. They are not there when I press and not from the press itself but appear after being pressed. And looking at the printed transfer there is nothing on there.
Anyone ever have these pop up after pressing ?
Thanks
Mark
