Hi. Ive been told to print halftones I need a postscript printer or rip software. I have neither and have had some good results. What am I doing wrong/right? I mean I have nothing to compare with but the screens ive produced ive been pretty happy with. Can anybody shed some light on the subject? I mean I say ive been happy but am I missing out by not using a rip? Brother MFC-J5901DW by the way

With a Rip and postscript printer, you get more control of your halftones. In crisp halftone shapes, more control of everything. You can produce ok results with non Rip setups.
Also, with non raster printers, they actually print in bands and can't produce true halftones.
I use AccuRip and really like it.
They've got a video online to show you examples of the differences with Rip vs non.
I think it's on youtube.
