Polo for the President

I operate a small shop at Ft. Stewart Georgia and as you might already know President Obama just paid the troops here a visit.

The day prior to his visit the Post Sergeant Major came into the shop and ordered a Polo Shirt as a gift for the President.

So I had the privilege of embroidering a Polo that was given to the President of the United States. Will he ever wear it, I doubt it, but it was still exciting.

Would have been nice if the President would have stopped by and purchased a few things.

while the president probably shouldn't step into my store, that would still be pretty cool. besides, he might wear it. i mean, why not, right? i imagine it's probably a real trick to get that gift into his closet, though. it makes you wonder what happens to gifts people heap upon him.

our main gig is trophies and awards (typically plaques), and they've been presented to congresspeople, senators, mayors, etc., and some to company's like wells fargo and macy's, places like that. it's pretty cool even if they just put it on the pile. most of the corporate awards we do we use heat transfers on metal and add a protective coating since we don't have a laser and, well, it's cheaper to buy, looks great, and has colour. (we would sometimes have used the sublimation stuff when the printer wasn't down, but we really like the coating as it adds texture.)

anyway, that's pretty cool. :)
Still cool whether he wears it or not:)

Even on a freakin' t-shirt board, folks STILL can't let the BS go. Hey, what's the name of your store so I can make sure I don't step into it, either.
No pic? Not even a mention of what was on the shirt?
The left chest had the 3ID mascot, Rocky, and the right chest had Commander-in-Chief. Sorry no pics just didn't have time. The shirt came off of the machine and right out the door. The Sergeant Major was going to take a picture of the President accepting the shirt I will post that if I ever receive one.

Being near a military installation.. you should hook up with the Post Chapel. They are ALWAYS looking for screend shirts and event shirts AND they bring in big names (not much bigger than the President I guess) AND you SHOULD then require a photo of it being presented each time and USE that as a marketing tool on your blog/website etc. It "legitimizes" your brand. At the Post Chapel ask to speak with the Post NCOIC or the DRE and take some samples and let them know you are available for any of thier printing needs. They will then add you as a vendor, but most installtions prefer to deal with the direct community.

If you don't get a picture from the CSM, pick up the installtion newsletter- I bet there will be a pic there. ALSO write to the installtion newsletter (chief editor) and ask them to include your business address in the article like, "the CSM was presented with a nice embroidered shirt courtesy of such and such".

this is a HUGE marketing oppertunity for you. But you have to hussel.
