Hey all, I just purchased a signwarehouse R Series 19" plotter to start with a small decal business.

The problem I am having is the following: When the plotter begins to cut the design, in this case an .ai file with words (text converted to outline), it cuts the first 1/8" of the word, then skips about 1/4" then cuts the rest of the word. I have a 1/4" straight band of skipped design all the way the length of the design.

Here is a pic if you can see it, the gap is between the 2 red lines that I put there to make it stand out.

I checked and rechecked all settings and everything is good, its too late to call tech support and this is driving me insane. The online help page says this is most likely due to the "blade offset" which is set correctly.

Does anyone have experience with the signwarehouse R19 series plotters? Has anyone else had this problem?

It is unlikely that this is caused by a blade offset issue. Can you please check the integrity of the cutting strip under that area of the vinyl to see if there are any gouges in it? If the cutting strip is damaged, you will get uneven depth cuts which may be what you are experiencing.

Another possibility is that there may be some hidden entities in your artwork. To see these, select everything using the select all feature. Turn you strokes to black and turn your fill off and if you have hidden artwork it should show up. Also, make sure all your layers are on.

I am using LXi Aprentice Cloud that came with the plotter. I checked the white strip, everything is smooth. As far as the artwork, its text converted to outline, so there is only 1 layer. And this "skipping" is a straight line spanning the length of the designs.
