Yesterday I got in my replacement blade AND blade protector from specialty. I went with the 45 fine cleancut blade. One of the first things I notice is that my blade holder doesn't have a pin at the top to push out the old blade. It's just got a hole. So I pull it out with some needle nose pliers. Put the other on in until it clicks in place and then put on the cap to where a little over 1/2 the thickness of CC is sticking out.

I put it all back in and reduced the pressure to like 60 and did a test cut. It didn't do much so I got it up to 100 and it did the test cut fairly good. So I did a design and it wouldn't weed for anything. About everything came up and had to be put down and it's a pretty simple design. So I went back and test cut increasing the pressure until it was too much. it went up to 150. So I cut that and it was much better but still nothing like you see people do where they just peel the whole thing off in one swoop. I also played with the offset using the square and triangle. It looked like .40 was the best.

I'm suspecting it has to do more with the vinyl I'm trying to cut. I got this vinyl from sewingmachine.com. On their website it's listed as Avery HP 700. The paper has something like GSI on the back of it though. I only got it because it was $4.00 a yard and I needed something. It's very thick sign vinyl.

Does that pin on my blade holder do something that would affect cutting? Is thicker vinyl harder to weed? I have no idea... but I did get a few things done. Any help is appreciated for sure. It's a GX24.

the pin on the back of the blade holder is there to help you remove the blade. It does not affect the overall cutting of the media. I can send you a blade guide from Roland if you want. It shows different blades and the offsets along with the how and why that a blade holder assembly works. email me at steven@Imprintables.com if you want the guide. Make sure to tell me in the email what you are looking for!
