I am not sure where the pinch rollers should be placed to get the most out of your cut. I thought had it right then it started to cut and it was right in the center of the vinyl instead of the bottom. Also the pinch roller on one sid it was gathering the vinyl and pushing off track. I had the vinyl very close to the edge of the roller so that may be it. Can someone take a picture of theirs and share?

Thanks

You want your pinch rollers on the edge of your vinyl, allowing a little play on the side to allow for the vinyl if not correctly aligned. The rollers will also be the limits of the width in which your blade can cut.

You want to position the side pinch rollers under the White marked area above as well as around 1/4 of an inch or so on each end of your vinyl.

If it's gathering vinyl on one side you may not have it flat before you lock the pinch rollers down.

I do have them under the white indicater lines but not sure which ones I should have them under. After setting the rollers in the GC software I selected read media area should I be doing that on the machine itself

Thank you for sharing the file I did not have this and it is very helpful for a beginner. Any ideas what the 'default' setting should be for Oracal 631 vinyl? I had speed at 60 pressure at 40 and blade at just less than 3 and areas still not quite cut thru some areas.

I normally cut Oracal 651 with a down force of 35 t0 40 and vary the speed from from 20 cm/sec to 40 cm/sec or higher depending on how detailed the cut is.

The "3" setting on the blade really doesn't matter much since you can have it set to 3 with no blade showing or crank it down and have way too much blade showing.

The rule of thumb most used is that the blade should be extend out of the holder about 1/2 the thickness of a credit card. Mine is set at 1/32 of an inch or even less and barely extends from the holder at all.

One way to get close to where it should be is to remove the blade holder and run the blade across a scrap piece of vinyl.

Adjust the blade until it cuts through the vinyl and just barely leaves a mark on the paper backing. Then tweak it from there.

One quick note on setting the blabe with the holder out of the machine
When you do this DON"T run the blade off the vinyl as hitting a hard surface will brake the tip on the blade
We WILL NOT talk about how I know this :)

Doing a few more testing today and wondering it seems to cut but some spots it still doesnt seem to go thru all the way. How do you know which needs to be adjusted pressure or blade? I assume since nothing is dragging or snagging the speed is fine at 60. It just seems like parts comes right apart and others not so much. Maybe that is normal. I haven't really cut anything intricate just basic words and fonts so far so want to work out the kinks before I get to much detail.

I did another test and it worked sooooo much better. I set the blade closer to 4 and the pressure at 45 and it pulled right up where it should have. Is there a place in Great Cuts to set default setting so I don't have to remember or adjust everytime?
