Hello, I'm posting here in hopes of getting some direction on getting a logo ready for screen printing. I'm sure this question gets asked a lot and I could search for answers but I figure I'd better get to posting so I will be able to upload images(10 posts I think)

Anyway, do you guy's use photoshop or prefer other programs over photoshop? I have scans of the bmx pads I want to do and I was wondering if photoshop would be best for this?

The scan is of black pads with yellow text, I figure I need to convert the black background to white and the yellow to black. Maybe even clean up the design some. Would this be a good step to start with?? :D

First off the white bike on your page .... thats sick...lol
Then I would ask if you have any experience creating prepping or separating for screenprinting in graphic software. I am no graphics expert I chose the printing route but have you looked into corel draw I think photoshop has a steeper learning curve

I love corel draw if you find the right people and tools around here to show you how to use it. but people here debate this everyday research research research youtube youtube research
Do you plan on learning to screentprint this yourself. Which is another whole other learning curve in itself. Or outsourcing the work.

Best advice join in ask questions and trial and error
your art is awesome have fun learning

Not seeing what it is you are tring to accomplish, but wouldn't it be more time effective to locate the type or whatever and rebuild the design from scratch using the scans as a layout guide?

Later...

each screen is a separate color, the "separations" are printed black on the transparencies to burn onto the screens to create the stencils, then the 2 screens (your separate colors) are registered and then you can use any colors you want.

hope this makes sense it is almost 1am here and I am knackered, if you unsure google color seperation photoshop

I inverted the black and white first, I then used the magic wand and selected the similar color. I then cut out the background layer which left a bunch of specks around the background area for some reason, guess it was picking up a similar color in the background??

If you zoom in on the pic it has a bunch of jaggy edges and cracks running through the print. (It's printed on neoprene btw) I'm now in the process of getting the letters back to complete black with a brush tool. I assume I'm going about this in the right way? I will only need one spot color for this pad set.

What I have so far...

find the font used and recreate it is what i would do
I considered that, I just figured by the time I found/bought the fonts, then tried to get them to size and stack them, it would just be easier to jump on in with what I had to work with.

How the heck did you embed my photo in your quote yet I can't find how to embed photos in my own post, I have never had that problem on any other forum??
