Photo to single color print

Hello. I am wondering if anyone could tell me how to adjust settings (coreldraw x6) to be able to convert photos to images like this?

it's have to be done with a photo manipulation software like photoshop or if coreldraw has a tracing option.

first scan photo in, place into software. in corel if they have a trace option select black and white, see how that works.

in photoshop you'd discard all color info make greyscale then mess with the color channels black/grey/white until you got desired effect. there are other ways to do it. i'd try searching the forum database using search function, there's gotta be a lot of threads out there on this.

here's one answer that i found:

first go into photopaint importing the pic, and then Bitmaps/Mode/convert to black and white/line drawing.

I got the same results by using the colored photo, desaturating the photo, or converting to grayscale.

Of course this type design looks best printed dark on light. If the shirt is dark and the print is light, then the image has to be inverted.

Thank you for the help, miktoxic, I appreciate it. I will work on those suggestions.
In photoshop you can convert to Lab color, duplicated the lightness channel, adjust with levels and curves, convert to bitmap.
