I ordered my inks and press today and I'm wondering how you get a pastel look from the matsui inks since it is transparent.
Do you mix the color with white opaque or do you just thin it down so it goes on lighter?
I'm getting a dvd with all my stuff but I was just starting to work on design so I needed an answer for this before everything gets here.

Hi Pam

You're correct that the addition of white will shift a color to its "pastel" shade.

Note that Matsui makes a RC301 Trans White that is very good for this, and won't detract from the dye-like quality of the RC-Series.

Also note that Matsui does make a semi-opaque version called the OW Series, and an opaque one called the HO Series.
