not even sure where to start here...i am trying to set up a LIYU cutter plotter for a man and i seem to have the data sending to the cutter plotter but the page he is drawing on never moves...the rollers do not move the page on the axis...even when he uses test on the liyu the page does not move on the rollers....we cannot figure it out...does it need adjusted somehow or is it a problem in how i have installed the drivers?

hi Brian, the man im trying to help is 88 and i know nothing about this at all just computers..It seems he believed the top rollers must avoid the bottom rollers, but we now have it operating by doing the opposite. im sure we will have plenty more problems before we get it sorted but we now have it moving and drawing a design.

thanks!

hi brian thats the problem, the man believed he read that the pinch rollers should NOT be placed over them. The next problem is he wants to send photos to the LIYU and we are using ARTCUT, i think from what i read that they have to be vectorised images. I have now tried importing jpg, eps, and other formats but the preview appears as blank. We cannot send an image except the samples in artcut.

Please download InkScape at Draw Freely. | Inkscape InkScape has a vectorization algorithm built in and will allow you to vectorize your JPEG or BMP artwork files. You may need to do a little cleanup of the vectors. You can then import to your sign cutting program through an SVG or EPS file transfer and then cut it. If you would like a walk through let me know and I can walk you through the vectorization process. You can also do this with Corel or Illustrator or DragonCut or Vinyl Master or Flexi Professional but InkScape is free so it is a good place to start.

hi brian, thanks a lot. we have got the liyu working at least in some fashion. the next step is getting the image format right, that will be another long process, so for today i will take a break. hopefully you will be online when we return to this. and then eddie can use this forum himself, im sure he will be the oldest member as he will 89 in july! He is self taught at using photoshop etc, and is amazing for his age though he will appreciate any help he can get.
