Pantone Colors with Bitmap Images?

1487 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  binki
I've got this bitmap image that I'm trying to mask and apply pantone white to, for screen printing purposes (highlight), but when I go to print my transparencies, pantone white doesn't show up as an option. So I went back, as an experiment, and masked the same section, and changed it to pantone solid black, and that did show up in the color seps. Why would the black, but not the white appear in the color seps?

Thanks guys for the help,

In the end, I had to make multiple copies of my artwork in Corel Draw (each on a separate page), and in paint mask and change each area I needed a spot color, delete everything else. Since I can't use, or print pantone colors from paint, I had to change them to 100% black, and print that. It was a pain.

Is it something in my customization options that's preventing from utilizing pantone colors in Corel Photo Paint?
One last try, lol. No one knows how to use solid pantone colors for screen printing purposes, color separations when printing film postives, using Corel PhotoPaint?

If the option is there to change a color to a pantone, then why when I go to print transparencies does it convert the colors back to cmyk?
Can you post the image up so we can see what your trying to do?

Or send it to me and I can post it if you don't know how...

Thanks Jeron.

I'm not necessarily trying to separate it, I'm just trying to print my positives from photo paint, due to a certain image I'm trying to print.

Normally, I do everything in Corel Draw, but I have these cars I'm trying to utilize for a "car show" type print. So I converted the cars in photo paint to a monotone (pantone black), then masked off certain areas and filled with color. But when I go to print, all I'm getting is cmyk values, even though I'm using pantone solids for the fills.
You might want to look at the Corel forums for the answer. I am guessing it is an issue with the printer selection not having an option for white.
