Hey guys, just a simple question about keeping the pallet in good condition. Currently I don't use any pallet tape and they are getting a bit dirty, a bit of ink do go through the shirts, probably from pushing/pulling too hard at times and of course the left over lint from the adhesive.

What do you guys do to clean it? Do you guys use pallet tape or is there a solution to use for wiping them off or cleaning them?

It's not a huge problem, but I can see it becoming something I'd have to deal with down the line anyway.

Pallet tape, pallet tape, pallet tape... Honestly for the $60-$70 a roll you'll save yourself hours of this kind of trouble.

as for cleaning it, id say find the most corrosive cleaner and scrub the **** out of it.

but once you get it clean, PUT SOME PALLET TAPE ON IT = )

On-press wash will actually remove lint, ink and adhesive. Switching over to pallet tape would make clean up so much easier. Using a liquid adhesive on top of the pallet tape would make things a lot easier too because you don't have spray tac all over your press and floors. When the adhesive loses tackiness, wipe of the fuzz with a wet rag and hit it with your flash dryer and you'll be good to go again.

I use pallet tape( actually I use application tape it's cheaper) and change only after about 500 per platen so I get about 3000 shirt per change. To clean off platen just use screen wash.

Pallet tape is the easiest way.
Mineral Spirits and common screen cleaners like SC-505 from Murakami work well.
Put a t-shirt on the pallet. drench in the cleaner, allow it to sit for ten-20 minutes
then you can scrape away with a soft spatula (nothing sharp enough to gouge the surface).
Pallet tape is the way to go. Automatic printers often layer the pallet tape during sweatshirt season
and peel off one at a time as the fuzz builds up. Also invest in a brand name pallet tape that peels off in one piece rather than tearing in little pieces. Flashes can bake cheap pallet tape and make it almost impossible to remove.

I use application tape, Probly the cheap application tape mentioned. But never had an issue removing but I do lightly mist with spray adhesive install tape flash the I use water based pallet adhesive, I have aluminum pallets with rubber. When we change tape we hit with flash and it peels right up in 1 peice

Ryonet or any other supply company. It is marketed as water based pallet adhesive. The stuff from ryonet. I put first coat full strength after pallet tape. Then I mix 2 parts water to 1 part adhesive. Is applied with a ketchup type squit bottle and a foam paint roller I get 30-50 shirts per application. When looses hold I put a small amount on roll flash ready to go in a few seconds. It holds well and last a while. Best of all you don't have to fight to get off pallet like spray adhesive when flashin a lot

Good point Sben... You can cut this stuff with water and dial in the tack you want.
Really important on light weight fabrics that can get distorted with too much tack.
Or for the pallet technique.

When we used spray tack we used Goo gone to clean the pallets, For the last 5 years we have used Tex-Tac waterbased liquid adheasive cut with about 30%- 40% water. heat the platen up, spray with water out of a spray bottle and wipe off.

Whatever you decide to use, avoid letting too much lint accumulate. Not waiting keeps it from being such a task and it does make a difference when printing especially doing detailed prints.

How much lint is too much? Look at my platens and you'll see. Haa-haaa! (Ask Foo. He's been spying on me)
