Order Management

I know this is a more general topic, and not specifically t-shirt related, but our workflow is pretty unique to t-shirts so hopefully get some good input.

The question is, how do you manage your orders?

Through Cart backend?
Excel?
Something else?

We currently export all orders from Cart to Google Spreadsheets and then update as follows through lifecycle:

1. When stock is orders from our suppliers (We have no inventory of blanks)
2. When print is cut and weeded.
3. When printed.
4. When posted.

My main issue with this is it's ridiculously manual, and every update to Google Spreadsheet requires an update to Cart backend to keep the customer up to date on progress.

We can't use the cart backend on it's own, as it's not very visual if that makes sense? If I'm sitting arranging a few days worth of orders into Illustrator for cutting, I don't want to be jumping in and out of every order.

Any feedback or advice would be appreciated - any software that might help etc...

Thanks for reading.

I've always found pen and paper, along with a couple of bulldog clips more than adequate!
Surely its far quicker and more visually engaging to use a note pad than to waste time entering everything into a computer?
Print off the cutomer order, print off your stock order, clip em together and hang them up close to the workspace.
When you trip over the goods you know its printed, when you see the couriers van at the door you know its posted!

Slightly bigger op or certainly more complicated :( we use google spreadsheets as users need access to the orders across three sites so pen and paper won't cut it. Cheers though! :)
Sorry I didn't know I was so small time!
Works well for us- everyone on site can pick up the job sheet at any time and see exactly what is what.
What a blind alley the written word turned out to be!

:D I didn't mean it like that and is why I added 'more complicated', it just wouldn't work for us over the three sites.
