Thanks to all of those who post & share your knowledge.
I have read many great threads from some very knowledgeable people.
Long story short ...I am still using a my MAC with OS9, a HP laserjet 5mp for output onto vellum.
My favorite (only) program is Freehand Studio 7.
Though I have photoshop I very rarely use it.
I have a 5 yr old powerbook g4 that I have never used for the business, but now will have to.
If Freehand is dead.. what are my next choices.
I really enjoyed working in Freehand it was very user friendly.
Once I settle in on new program, I will then get a new ink jet printer to output.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help an old timer!
Phil

development on freehand has been discontinued but the last version is still available. I think the closest vector program would be Illustrator, Coreldraw is also very good but you may find illustrator more intuitive coming from Freehand.

I would have recommended Inkscape, it's a very good free app but won't run on os9

My idea : Go to Illustrator.
The closest one for Freehand geeks.
And, the best idea, colaborate your vector skill with photoshop.

check basic tutorial online
eg: tutsplus.com or tutorial9.com, or etc.
