OKI C711WT & Magic Touch WOW

Hey guys,

So last week I took the plunge and bought an oki C711wt along with Adkins swing press from The Magic Touch here in the UK and I have a question.

I have printed a few different images onto tshirts now, and have noticed that every single one has a yellow hue around the edge of the printed area. I can print the same design onto plain white paper = no yellow border. Having looked at a few examples in the show us your work section is this something to just deal with?

I spoke to TMT technical earlier today who advised I will always get that outline, that there is nothing they can do to make it better and to deal with it. The reason I ask here is you guys work in the world of custom garment printing day in day out and wondered if someone had a solution to this frankly terrible flaw.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Setup:

OKIC711WT
Wow 7.7
Wow pad
Teflon sheet when transferring
Adkins swing press press with mid / high peressure

I don't use C711WT nor WOW 7.7 transfer. It will help understand the yellow outline you are talking about if you post photos. So others that own the system can help you.
See attached photograph with the yellow line on the edge.

I have just had some paper delivered from YOLO here in the UK again, and it seems I am experiencing the same thing from these papers as well.

As part of the "Experiment" I have just run the exact same image through an inkjet paper, and it comes out absolutely perfect with no edging at all.

If this is something I should come to expect I will have to accept this, and that will make my decision this is not the solution for me at all.

Thanks

Tom

It looks like you are scorching the transfer. Check the temp of your heat press. The temp may not be what the displayed temp. Try lowering the temp. Did you show that picture to TMT? I am surprised that they told that that is normal and they can't do anything about it. Another thing is if you are using cotton blend you will have dye migration that will give you that muddy look. Use 100% cotton or lower the temp for cotton blend to minimize dye migration.
Thanks for the advice on getting the image to not 'scorch' like it is - appreciate that.

In regards to there being an outline, I have been testing all day today, and it seems there is either an issue with the printer, or maybe something else amiss. Before I left, I opened Illustrator, typed the word TEST in Arial Black, color filled the text in a deep blue, printed, pressed, RED OUTLINE on this one.

Very odd indeed.

Thanks for any help guys.
I have the Oki 711wt and have tried the new Forever low temp papers and have not had that problem.

Tried the wow 7.7 but had problem when pressing the 2 sheets but works every time with the Forever A foil and B sheet.

Another plus is the Forever works out at nearly half the price of Wow papers.

Where can it be gotten?
I just got back from an industry trad show. And think i might have found a solution for TMT wow paper, its Neenah paper. I found out that Oki, Neenah, Hotronix, and Inksoft have joind forces. The Neenah paper is certified by OkI to work perficatly with there printer and Hotronix has certified the printed paper to work properly with Neenah's process. They also went on to say that this has been tested to be run in a washer with hot water and then machine dried on high temp (although they said it would shorten the life at these extremes) but for longer life they recommend washing inside out and on regular temps in the washer and dryer. I know it can be purchased through Coastal Business but i would bet there are other distributors.

I have samples and am going to try it tomorrow.

i am not going to do business with TMT any longer. I have 2 unopened boxes of this @#$ paper that i am sending back. Oh you can also get the whole system from Coastal as well.
