OK, Antec or Vastex??

I've been reading the threads about best equipment. Now it's my turn to ask...so I've finally gotten the $$ together :D and am ready to buy. I'm lucky enough to be able to get in at mid-level or better. So the two I've come to compare today are Antec Legend or Vastex 2000. Some of you gurus please weigh in...I really want to get started but want to consider often and buy once!! Thanks in advance...

We have used Antec presses & flash dryers for over 10 years, and ours went under 5' of water from Hurricane Katrina for 1 week, and all I did for the press was power wash & regrease, replace the pallets, and still use it today. Luckily, the water line stopped 1/2" below my flash unit panel, so I still use the flash unit today, but had to replace the auto base, which I HIGHLY recommend for anyone that has to do a lot of flashing for dark garments.

Absolutely Antec! Don't let cost be a factor, you will get what you pay for. I worked with Antec equipment for over 15 years on both Tracers and Legends. When I went into business for myself I was attracted to the Vastex as well, it looks great on paper but after seeing it in person I was very dissapointed.

We own the vastex and I like it. Very sturdy and will probably last forever. However, if I had to make the decision over, I might go with the legend. I got to see it close up at the show in ft. worth and it really is the cream of the crop as far as manual presses go. I didn't print on it but saw enough to say it is better than the vastex. If you decide to get the vastex you won't be dissapointed but it is inferior to the legend.

Why disappointed?
I have a Hopkins which is a good press and was happy with it. I need a 6 X 6 so I bought a Legend. It's like driving a Cadillac after learning to drive on a Chevy. Your body will thank you if you went the way of the Legend. I've also printed on the Vastex 2000, but only for 2 days. The Legend just spins with so little effort.

That post was 8 years ago, and his most recent post was this January .. so not sure if you'll be hearing back on that. Also, some things have changed a little in 8 years.
Just ordered a V2000HD 6/6...some guys seem to love it...some seem to say it's not that great...hope I love it!!! Gotta be better then a silver 4/1 without micro right?

:p For sure! I have the same Silver as you, and will one day upgrade to a 2000HD. Congratulations!

THANKS DUDE!!!:p
I ordered the 6/6, a 32" dribox II and the digit numbering system. I'm stoked!!! Tons of kids in the schools here so I'm hoping to take that market once I get everything :)
You'll get there my man! I thought I never would!!!
Sell whatever you can! Get a better press! That silver is gonna keep you from getting any kind of production done!
Good luck my man!!!
The 2000HD is a great press. You'll be happy with it for a very long time.
I've never used Antec but I loved the Vastex I printed on for two years. Vastex seems to have a lot more attachments for they're presses too.
Since this is a 7 year old thread regurgitated back to life. I need to ask...

One thing that caused me to choose a Vastex was it's modularity (is that a word?) ie - even buying a 1/1 tabletop model you can build it out over time to a freestanding 10/10 if you wanted. Sure, it's CHEAPER to buy a 10/10 outright (or whatever your ideal press size is). But I like that ability. I already added 2 stations/platens to my press, and will likely add 2 or 4 more eventually.

Same goes with the Vastex dryers.

What other presses have this ability? Or do all of them have presses with the feature. The few presses I looked at before I bought my Vastex did not have this ability. They were older, used presses though.

They talk about upgrading a lot...and that's why I went with their conveyor dryer...I plan to ad to it as business picks up :)
