Ok think I f$&% up again. Smh. So I went to get neoprene but I'm thinking it's the wrong kind. I'm looking at video and they seems to have like a rubber like material on them. The one I got don't have the rubber like part. Can someone let me know if it's right or wrong material.

The rubber that you see is usally pond liner. The neoprene is used on commercial units and should work just fine. I like it better than the pond liner. I am currently making a top for my floresent unit.

I did get the wrong one. The one I need has rubber coat on one side. The one I have don't have no rubber coat so when I turn on the vacuum it's pulling the blanket down but it's not giving a tight seal cause air is flowing though the blanket. So get the right neoprene before u start and the ones a Joan fabric is the right 1.

Some manufacures use the unbacked neoprene. it depends on the vacuum pump that is used. some use a high volume pump simular to a shop vac motor these need leakage or the motor will burn up. Most us a low volume simular to the ones used in the HVAC industry and those will require the rubber backing or a high enough vacuum can't be obtained. you can get a liquid 2 part rubber that can be appied to the unbacked neoprene if you cant return it and dont want to waste it. a spare in the future

The best units use Butyl rubber not neoprene as it will not get into the corners of the screen so the contact with not be close enough , they use Butyl because it is 100% uv proof 100% solvent proof and guaranteed for life and is thin and flexible enough to get in the corners ,
Neoprene will wear on the outer corners causing leaks .
You need butyl rubber 0.75 mm in black from screen print supply shop or you might get it from pond shop if they sell small amounts .

My .02 based on recent research, knowledge of roofing picked up in my day job, and personal uses....

Agreeing with Lauralee - the Butyl Rubber (and EPDM's) will likely be best as far as UV resistance....

EPDM's are used in the roofing industry for membrane roofs due to good UV resistance and durability.
Granted.... they are very different compositions.

How many types of neoprene?
I've seen stuff labeled Neoprene Foam, and Neoprene Rubber, and Neoprene/EPDM
Beats me ;)

What I can tell ya is I used the stuff JoAnn Fabrics sells on one of my units with a GAST 2.7 CFM 24 in hg pump and it worked fine.
The pump is a Diaphram Pump - Like the HVAC industry uses
The neoprene from JoAnn was a Neoprene Foam faced with nylon on both sides.
JoAnn sells it under their UTILITY category, usually black nylon on one side, and either green or burgandy on the other.
Using this worked fine for me.
I WILL SAY THOUGH, I think it is quite a bit thicker than commercial units use.

I just got a different unit... a SPS Inc unit (Defunct) and it has the same type of pump, but 4.1-4.8 CFM, same vacuum.
The unit has Neoprene Foam with nylon on the top side.
Works GREAT
Can't tell you if it is original to the unit or not. No idea.

The only problem with EPDM is its less than stellar solvent resistance. If you keep your frames clean, it could be a non-issue for you. Nitrile is GREAT, but very comparatively expensive. Soft Neoprene (not foam) is very good, also very expensive. Regular neoprene (not foam) is very durable, but won't pull into the corners of a screen (not sure why so many people want to expose the corners of their screens )

It seems foam neoprene is the standard because it's cheap and effective... and wears out. :)
