No print at all, after replace print head

2561 Views 21 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JuanManuel
Hi fellows,
I just replace the print head, and 8 dampers, (capping station was replaced 2 weeks ago)
Before replace the print head I pull some ink like 50cc each channel, just to be sure fresh ink in new dampers and head, replace the dampers and prime, assemble the new head and do a single cleaning, do a nozzle check, the machine do the nozzle check but no printout at all (no ink printed)
Do another single clean, check the capping and is ok all colors are in, do a nozzle check and same result, the machine do a nozzle check but no print
Any ideas? suggestions?

1. Check ALL cable fittings again, even if you didn't touch them. Also make sure that the blue or grey tab on the ribbon cable side (opposite the connectors) is there on all the cables.
2. Run a power clean -- do you see ink move through the lines during the power clean?
3. Check to make sure your capping station is actually functional. Loose cables and hoses?
i've had this happen before, and i just unplugged the ribbon cable from the head, and plugged it back in. those things are sensitive, and every time i put them in, i'm super cautious. if at all possible, i try to avoid having to remove the head completely.
Thats what I found
Thanks guys

Did reconnecting that cable fix your issue?
you can clean those contacts with alcohol. just make sure they dry completely before connecting to the head.
I repaired cable and connect the same problem, again disconnect cable looks good now try again same problem
Stop for lunch
I going to clean cables with alcohol to see what happens.

What problem did you find with the cable that required repairing?

Did you run a Powerclean as suggested by treefox2118? If so, what was the result?

Be very careful not to fold the tracks over on those cables.

This is what a burn looks like yours locks fine. I had to change the cable which is very frustrating trying to mesh all the folds!

If you see the picture I post, just one tip has rolled so I put it straight back.

I did not do a power clean, because with a simple clean I see the capping station with all the ink channels, so I think I have ink in the print head.

If you've rolled one of the tracks, it's highly unlikely that it'll make a good contact when inserted into the connector on the printhead - this is likely your problem.

You can trim the ribbon back to take away the folded piece - use a very sharp blade and ensure the cut is square.
Change is safer than clean. Usually 9out 10 cable issue.
Cheers! Inks are on me always.
Just back in town, tomorrow morning I going to continue
Now is time to enjoy BBQ & wine with my wife

Good morning everybody,
Today machine is working good, perfect nozzle check.
Probably I save some ink not doing a power clean, but I lost a working day for not doing it.
Next time take the words from people with experience and save time.
Thanks Brian

Can you explain in detail what all you did, step by step, so that future people searching the forums for similar problems have a solution?

I just let the machine do her cycles over night, probably 4 single cleans, in the morning I did the daily maintenance and the nozzle check was ok.
