No bubbles during white line cleaning

3168 Views 13 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  driftfx
Would anyone know why performing a white line cleaning, I get no bubbles in one of the white lines?
The other lines are fine, but number 2, using the same maintenance cartridge, does not get any bubbles in, and as a consequence, does not get clean.
My Brother reseller is telling me that the maintenance cartridge is a replaceble part that should be replaced every 12 months....
But, if it works on the other lines, it should work on all lines!!
Also, he mentioned that if he mention this issue to brother, they will say it is a lack of maintenance issue. (I have provided the log and it is 100% correct).

Any suggestion?

When doing W2 have you seen the fluid level reduce in the bottle.
Yes,
The fluid goes down (usual 125 ml), but no bubbles
and you are also opening the cap on the cartridge and using the empty cartridge?
Yep! Every other line is fine, only W2
ok try this. When the lines are fill of M fluid go to Maintenance, initial cleaning and choose W2.

When the fluid is been pumped from the M fluid container lift the tube out of the fluid and wait then back in, Repeat.
Yeah, done that. It creates "gaps" in the fluid flow, but not bubbles.
I mean, I can do in and out every few seconds to mimic bubbles, but it can't be a long term solution

Reads like every thing is fine from the needle to the pump but it is unusual. After T cleaning how bad is the test print for W2 and is it noticeable when printing?
Ok, when I do the white load I have to do 2 rounds on W2 to fill the line, otherwise the ink stops just before the in-line filter.
At first I thought it was the head clogged that wasn't allowing enough flow (of MS) to clear. But the head is clean and the test print is 90-95% right.
It just puzzles me.....

maybe it is the filter on W2

James,

Replaced it last week, when I started having the issue.(the first thing I did when I noticed the flow of white wasn't enough to fill the line).

James Thank you for trying.
I will escalate it next week directly to Brother if the reseller doesn't find the fix
If you have to do 2 load whites on W2, you probably have a leak somewhere in the ink line or print head. When I first read this thread, I thought it was weird that you could even get the white ink to load if there were no bubbles. I don't think the issue is the maintenance cartridge.

You probably are going to need a technician look at the ink line from the needle all the way to the print head. This requires taking the top of the printer off and the ink bay cover off. Then you want to look for any cracks or kinks in the tube very carefully. I have no clue what the cost of the ink tube is in Australia, but it might be just easier to switch the tube out completely. Some times it can be hard to find a crack or kink in the tube.

Best wishes as you work through this challenge.

Hi Paz! We had the exact same issue after we came back after the Christmas holidays... we replaced one of the heads and we're back up and running. That's the only head we've replaced and we've had the machines since Sep 2012.
Mark,

Thank you. It was a hairline fracture in the line just below the filter. Visible to the eye only during the cleaning process as was creating micro bubbles.

Jared,

We had the same issue coming back from Xmas holiday but my head was stuffed due to this leak that made the head dry: fortunately I managed to salvage it with a lot of TLC, cleaning solution and white ink ( I have done over 40 white prints to clear it).

Be careful. If your head died over Christmas it may be due to a leak. Check the lines during the cleaning.
