Here is my first question: I need to become a business. I know I need a name(Very Hard), and a tax ID # (not sure where to get it), and I am guessing a business license but not sure. Do you need a lawyer for any of this? I also know that I need at least this much and hopefully not more to be able to purchase blanks and materials wholesale. If I can't purchase wholesale I can't make a profit. So I am taking baby steps, these will be my first. Is there anyone out there that can help me with the steps necessary to become a simple home based business, and have the qualifications to be able to purchase the necessary supplies wholesale? the tax id# is free jus call the I.R.S and get one, also you might want to regerstier your name with your state, and get wholesale cretifecte. for wholesale buying. hope this help,www.four-ts.com

You can register for Federal EIN here: Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) Online

For state license, check the link from the above poster.

Business name, brainstorm and jot down as many ideas as you can. Start researching if there are existing businesses online. See if the domain names are available and eliminate from there..

Thanks to everyone for somewhere to start, I am sure there is a lot more to do and learn but thanks for my first steps. Anyone with more info on registering to become a small at home business (All liscenses etc), and how to qualify for wholesale prices I am looking for:

silk screen supplies
non apparel blanks etc..
