I came across the Newman Roller Frames in silkscreeningsupplies. Do these work as well as normal wooden or aluminum screens? Are they better? Are they good for beginners? Do I have to buy the REALLY EXPENSIVE tools? Anyone used it before? Thanks for all the info!

They're adjustable frames, as opposed to the usual static frames that most people start out with. Some consider them better in the long run, but they are a little more complex at first. They do make re-meshing screens a lot easier. You'll need a tension meter if you're going to use them.

Even a lot of professional shops don't use them. Probably overkill for a beginner.

Still, it's not rocket science and there'd be nothing wrong with using them if you wanted to.

I've never used them, but plan on it as soon as possible, or I might just use only the Shur-Loc EZ frames which look similar to static frames but they hold a much higher tension and you can re-mesh them a lot easier. They are essentially all the good aspects of Newman Roller frames, but with lower maintenance. The Newman Rollers can be stretched to a higher tension level then the EZ's though. If you can afford the EZ's or Newmans then there is no reason not to get them. Some people will say that you CAN'T afford not to use them. Printing with higher tension levels will make your life easier and your product quality even better. I can't wait to start using these frames eventually. If you're iffy on the Roller frames check out the EZ Frames - http://www.shurloc.com/mm5/merchant.mvc
High tension screens are the name of the game.
