Hello,

Newbie here , first post but not my last :D;) So hi all!

Recently bought a cutter, a graphtec 5000-60 , as the other half is on a mission to bring her deigns to life, in vinyl , in and on everything, t-shirts, walls , the lot! The kids rooms already had a make over the first couple of days we got it lol. Im getting to grips with it as im tech/computer savvy altho ive had alot of head scratching moments :p.

Right i have a question ...is it possible to print on the a4 vinyl printable sheets that you can get , using a normal printer, ( epson r285 in my case ) then will i be able to cut the design out using the cutter, obvisouly will have to use registration marks i guess?? would i need a carrier sheet or would i just set the blade/force to a ligher/heavier setup?

any help or info would be great, am currently mooching through the whole forum! :)

That's the same cutter I have. You can put any size vinyl in there, just press the sheet selection at the start-up. Whatever you do, don't press the sheet selection when using a roll or it will unwind the entire roll of vinyl! That's a mess you don't want to deal with.

Printing on vinyl requires special ink. Versacamm has a printer/cutter which is what would be needed for that. There are certain kinds of vinyl that you can print on with a regular inkjet printer. You can find it at papilio.com. It is very expensive. And I think it only comes in pressure sensitive vinyl, but I could be wrong on that. Versacamm also has a smaller BN-20 printer/cutter.
