I'm researching the better options for my limited starting out budget. I'm looking at either converting an Epson for sublimation or a cutting machine like either the Silhouette or Cricut.

Hi. Two different 'animals'. If you are doing this as a hobby I think you will have more use for the Cricut to design images in vinyl for clothing and many other products. For sublimation, you will be limited to applying the transfers to 100% white polyester and many other products that have a polymer coating that will accept the sublimation inks. Also, for sublimation you will need a heat press to apply the transfers.
