Newbie questions…how many colors is this art? do I need a white base?

Hi, here is an image I am printing on a Gildan Ultra 2000 in Charcoal Grey. I am basically using 4 colors to create the art; light grey, blue, red and black. Also using the shirt color as a 5th color in the design.

Can someone please tell me realistically how many color print this would be? ie. how many screens I guess.

thanks

I think you answered your own question, using the shirt as a color, this looks like it would be 4 colors, blue, red, black, and white (or light grey), and if you have a 6 color press, you could throw up a dark grey or charcoal, so then it would be 5 colors

So with the light grey, does this need a white base as well? can the light grey be the base?

I was also wondering if the detail would hold up using the shirt color, ie. small details better to be printed in an additional charcoal color than using the shirt color…

If this is on a 6 color press, does adding a 5th color increase the cost by much?

thanks

The 3 most important artist supplies you will need are acrylic paint, paintbrushes, and a painting surface such as canvas or wood panels. ... Basic Color Palette :)

As you are using charcoal Gray so my recommendation would be a white base,I don't think you should be cutting corners by avoiding white base although it wont increase your cost significantly if you are going for bulk printing.

The light gray can be the underbase. If separated and choked correct for dot gain no detail loss.

Every color will add cost and depending on the number of shirts and shop printing will dictate cost.
