Getting a cutter is a good investment but, you have to have knowledge of programs such as Coreldraw or Illustrator. A cutters allows you to die cut around your designs and saves you the time of doing it by hand. You can also cut much more intricate designs with a cutter. Then you also have the new world of heat transfer vinyl as well. BUT, you need to know how to use a design program and about vectored art work.

I have been told it can be done but, it is an extreme pain in da butt! If u know how to use photoshop, illustrator shouldn't be to hard to figure out since they are similar in style. Just youtube some tutorials.
I think most of the cutter software uses vector graphics like you generate out of Illustrator or Corel, Photoshop is a raster graphic program which is why it really isn't compatible.

While you could create in Photoshop, you would have to import into Illustrator to convert it into a vector, then import it again into your cut program....lots of extra steps.

Hope this helps.
